Saturday Sessions is a community event held at The Megaphone, an outdoor area in Northwest Gardens in Fort Lauderdale. The event goes down every first Saturday of the month and brings together up and coming artists for an afternoon of music and spoken word performances. The event features an open mic session as well as local vendors and businesses and is presented by Art Prevails Project, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 arts organization committed to impacting South Florida and beyond by providing engaging and authentic artistic and cultural experiences through performance and education.
I first stumbled upon this event as I was looking for an event to test out a few new vintage lenses I had purchased. After doing a Facebook event search, I came across Saturday Sessions, and at just under a 30 minute drive away and long enough (3 hours) to give all my lenses a good turn (not to mention free!), it seemed to be good enough for me. What I wasn’t expecting was the quality of the talent assembled – I mean, if I had paid $20 to see this show, I would have not been disappointed. After that first month, I made sure I had Saturday Sessions marked down on my calendar (and I brought me camera and a few good lenses with me every time).
