After having witnessed unforgettable back-to-back sunsets at Faro Touriñán and the awe-inspiring Santuario da Virxe da Barca, in this post, we say “ata loguiño” to the truly enchanting coastal town of Muxía with images from their 17th annual Mercado das Rutas do Mar (Sea Routes Market), a festival organized by the town of Muxía to celebrate its maritime traditions and culture.

Throughout the weekend, the streets of Muxía are transformed into a port of the past with traditional maritime fair, craft stalls, live music and gastronomic offerings that pays homage to the region’s world famous cuisine. This event takes place over several days in August and we just happened to be (reluctantly!) pulling out of Muxía the morning of the first day of the festival so Serena and I spent the afternoon enjoying the people, music and food (including two heavenly slices of tortilla española!)
And nobody parties harder than the Spaniards, yes?
As for the town of Muxía, it will always have a special place in our heart. It is truly a hidden gem in the region of Galicia. We will most certainly be back. Enjoy the gallery…
