One of my favorite places to snap photographs is at VACC Camp, a free week-long overnight camp hosted by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami for ventilation assisted children. It has become my favorite place to be for Spring Break during the past seven years; documenting this remarkable camp through video and photography. That said, I’m happy to announce that a photograph I snapped at VACC Camp has been selected as part of the “Gratitude & Joy” photography exhibit hosted by Pompano Beach Arts and Bailey Contemporary Arts.
The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception Friday, December 7th, 2018 at 6pm at Bailey Contemporary Arts West Gallery (inside Blooming Bean Coffee Roasters) and will be on view through January 25, 2019. The images in this exhibition invite us to reflect on our memories of moments filled with joy and gratitude (and where is there more joy and gratitude than at VACC Camp, yes?) and features images by sixteen South Florida photographers that share their interpretations on joyful moments in a myriad of images that includes landscapes, portraits, animal photography, and long exposures.
Here’s the photograph, which shows Mariana (a camper who comes all the way from Venezuela every year with her family) dancing with the volunteers during a party in 2017. Very honored to have this image be a part of this exhibition.
